Biological dentist in Calgary area offers extractions
Drs. Kindal Robertson and James Redd in the Calgary area encourage patients to come to their practice to learn about the benefits of biological extractions. Biological extractions are done a little differently than traditional extractions. We focus on providing our patients with faster healing times by integrating the use of PRF with our extractions.
PRF, which stands for platelet rich fibrin, is harvested from a patient’s own blood. A blood draw is taken from the patient and is broken down into different elements, including the serum, PRF, and red blood cells. The PRF is extracted and then used on the extraction site.
Platelet rich fibrin is used in medical procedures to cut healing time, reduce the amount of pain and discomfort patients experience, heal a precise area, and provide immediate clotting. PRF is readily available at the practice of Dr. Robertson and Dr. Redd Dental Health.
Teeth may need to be extracted for a variety of reasons. Younger patients may need baby teeth extracted because they are not coming out on their own and there are teeth behind them that need to break through the gum line. Young adult patients may require the removal of their wisdom teeth due to impaction, disease, or possible misalignment of the smile once they come in. Patients with large areas of decay that cannot be remedied with large fillings may also need to have their natural tooth removed and replaced. There are many situations in which extractions may be performed, but each patient’s case is unique to them.
